Visit the l’Altre International Performing Arts and Mental Health Festival in Barcelona!

14. 5. 2025

L’Altre is the first festival of theatre, dance, music, poetry and new performing formats with shows that give visibility to artistic proposals created and/or starred by people with and without mental health problems, and those that reflect on mental health. In its eleventh edition, the festival takes place at the Fabra i Coats venue in Barcelona from 30 May to 1 June, 2025 – with more than 35 shows that help us discover the Others.

The festival opens with the performance of Mishima and Efectes Secundaris. Companhia Babélica from Brazil visits the festival with its creation ESTAFÁ O SOBRE LOS SUEÑOS NO DORMIDOS, depicting an attempt to build perfect humanity. Xavier Bobés, Cia, Olveira Salcedo and an artistic team from the l’Altre Festival have created an artistic piece based on the observation of the spaces we inhabit and what we touch in our daily lives. Núria Duran, an emerging artist in the Catalan music scene, characterized by her captivating voice and charismatic stage presence, participates with her musical performance in the “Women and Mental Health” space. On Sunday, ‘Temps de Dansa’ returns with seven shows that explore mental health through various proposals, such as Iron Skulls. Diego Garrido takes part with his latest work: ‘Nunca bailaré solo’. From Les Palmes, we are visited by the show Atrapasueños by the Travesía Sociocultural Association, a theatrical play with inmates and ex-inmates of the La Palma I and II penitentiary centres. Bohnická divadelní společnost from Prague brings its show The Fools’ Pilgrimage, a deeply personal confession of the actors and actresses themselves.

During these three days more than 450 artists will show their work to more than 4,500 people interested in the arts and mental health.
